Our area is known for it's Mediterranean like dry weather, beautiful sunny summers and for 'farm to table' dining at Michelin rated restaurants nearby in chic Healdsburg 25 minutes south. Locally, organic faire at Campovida de Piazza 'Stock Farm' either inside their sports bar or outdoors at their outdoor bar and patio with sculpted water fountain or inside with a cool industrial vibe and a great selection of their wine country menu, wines and artisan brews or across the street at the Golden Pig , offering a wonderful selection from their ranch pasture raised meats and greens for farm to table dining, or at the Hopland Tap Room for fun brew and casual patio dining & RockSeas for lunches and late night fine dining and the Blue Bird iconic cafe for wonderful breakfasts and hamburgers or try Steep for fine brewed coffees and teas for your morning wake ups all within the village.
You can also visit local Terra Sava Olive Mill for some great olive oil tasting and see up front and personal their crushing and bottling operation.
Just a few miles south, about 15 minutes away to our bordering Sonoma County, there are more then 400 more world class wineries such as Francis Ford Coppola (rent a cabana poolside for the day where you can swim and have poolside bartenders!) & Trentadue in Geyserville where they also have many fantastic wines and fun Bocce Ball courts that you can play anytime. In Geyserville you will find the outdoor 'Art Sculpture Park' and fantastic dining in a San Francisco like experience at Diavola's Salumeria, (they don't take reservations so you have to be there by 5:00 p.m. to get in as the lines get very long on weekends!). Or try one of our favorite places in Geyserville, 'Catelli's', reservations are a must just down the street! This is the very best California and Italian style cuisine outside of North Beach in San Francisco that you will ever find! Dominica (co owner and chef with her co-owner brother Nic Catelli) you will find her carefully guarded many generations family secret 7 layered to die for lasagna! Pasta paper thin melt in your mouth you will not believe it! Further south on Highway 101, 15 minutes to the heart of Sonoma County is the wine country village of Healdsburg which is where two more of our favorite wineries are; Ferrari Carano off Dry Creek Road and their gorgeous gardens and Wilson Winery. Near Ferrari Carano's winery you can hike over 17000 acres, fish, back pack, kayak, canoe, paddleboard, sail, jet ski, swim & recreate at Sonoma Lake and Recreation Area, visit the fish hatchery and watch the salmon and trout jump the run ladders during spring for spawning season!
Healdsburg is a 'MUST GO TO!' place as it has everything for everyone! It is considered the very best of what Sonoma and Mendocino County has to offer. From wineries, wine tasting rooms, bakeries ' La Cousteaux' a local's favorite, chocolatiers, specialty shops, tea rooms, designer garment show rooms, World Class Michelin rated restaurants such as Single Thread, Dry Creek Kitchen, Valettes, and Barn Diva. There is Scopa's, Baci, the Healdsburg Shed for wonderful dining as well as having day and evening cooking classes taught by local award winning Chefs, The Chalkboard, Willie's Tapas Bar, and so many others just to name a few! Beautiful galleries, specialty boutiques, olive oil tasting rooms, museums, farmer's markets, free summer concerts on the green on the Healdsburg Plaza, and special wine auctions, Plein Aire Art Festivals and many other events all year around.
1 mile away, the Piazza de Campovida and Stock Farm Sports Bar have delicious gourmet salads, full lunch and dinner menus, outstanding pasta dishes & fire roasted pizzas which are divine! Outdoor bar and fountain side eating is awesome!
The iconic Blue BIrd Cafe is widely known by locals for their HUGE hearty breakfasts as well as Hamburger Ranch in Cloverdale just 15 minutes south. They both serve outstanding hearty breakfasts and lunches !
'Steep' for fresh brewed specialty coffees and teas or Starbucks in Cloverdale. Try sipping wine and olive oil tasting at Brutocao in town !
Day trips are ideal to see the CA coast and the quaint New England village of Mendocino and have 'chowduh or 'crab cakes' at Trillium Restaurant about 1.50 hours away making a great day trip for touring and exploring the coast of Mendocino!
Try Fort Ross on the coast south of Mendocino Village and explore the historic outpost of the 1800's early Russian settlers. All in all, breathtaking beauty!
You can travel north 2 hours to the giant Redwoods located in Garberville and see some of the oldest and tallest trees on earth and drive the "Avenue of the Giants' that parallels the Highway 101. Take in the Victorian Village of Ferndale for seeing a whole town made up of beautiful Victorians and do some antiquing, shopping and exploring.
In the summer, you can also spend your day kayaking, boating, rafting, & hiking on over 17000 acres and do some fishing on Sonoma Lake & Recreation Area at the end of Dry Creek Road. You can also enjoy horseback riding at the Ranch at the same location and ride along the rim of the lake and dam!
Directions and Groceries
If you are traveling north from either Oakland airport or San Francisco airport and you are coming north on the 101 we suggest that you purchase all of your groceries that you might be needing for your stay at either Olivers in Windsor off of Central Windsor exit or at 'Big John's' off Dry Creek Road exit in Healdsburg. There is a Safeway in Healdsburg as well for those staples you might be looking for. There is no grocery store in Hopland but there is a small convenience store for snacks, pop and beer.
